Movie -- 2025 -- Netflix
Live-action remake of the 2010 film. On the isle of Berk, Vikings and dragons have been at war for years. Hiccup, sixteen, is the small son of chief Stoick. He shoots down a Night Fury, cannot kill it, and names it Toothless. Real-looking dragons, fire on houses, a giant at the nest, and Hiccup wakes without a foot.

The raid starts with sheep in the air and roofs on fire. This is the live-action remake, not the cartoon, so the dragons look like animals. Hiccup is sixteen, small for a Viking, son of chief Stoick. He brings down a Night Fury with a bolas, then cannot finish the kill. He calls the dragon Toothless. Astrid, another trainee, finds out. The nest has a monster that eats its own. At the end Hiccup is missing a foot.
Night raids: fire, stolen sheep, Vikings fighting. Hiccup's bola brings Toothless down; the dragon is hurt and later missing half a tail. Arena class: teens vs chained dragons. Mum is already dead (a helmet from her breastplate). Astrid sees the Red Death, a huge dragon that swallows others. Stoick captures Toothless, disowns Hiccup, and sails to the nest. Ships fail in fog. Toothless nearly drowns. The Red Death explodes. Hiccup is thought dead, then wakes with his left foot gone.
4-6. Not a fit. Live-action fire, a giant that eats dragons, and a missing foot.
7-9. Seven needs you. Eight and nine need a skip list for the opening raid, the nest, and the last fall. The cartoon they may know is softer in the face.
10-12. Ten still needs you nearby. They can follow a boy and a dragon and still want the Red Death skipped. Eleven and twelve are more often ok. The foot can sit after the credits.
Counts are how often that theme shows up in the notes -- not when it happens.
We would not put this on for a child under 7 and leave the room. Plan to sit with them at least until 10. After that, many families can watch with a grown-up nearby rather than on the couch. The notes above say what happens. You know your child. This is not medical advice.
