The Little Rascals
A 1994 Our Gang remake. Spanky's clubhouse has a no-girls rule, Alfalfa is in love with Darla, bullies Butch and Woim hover, and a go-kart called the Blur is supposed to win the derby. Slapstick, pranks, a clubhouse fire, and a friendship that nearly splits.
Not suitable under 5; parental guidance to 7 (bullying, clubhouse fire, slapstick); ok from 8.

Before you press play
Bright 1990s kid-comedy: clubhouse, go-karts, and kids running the neighbourhood. The jokes are broad. The load is being left out, being chased by bullies, slapstick that looks like it might hurt, and a fire the children try to put out themselves.
- A club that shuts girls out
- Friendship vs first crush
- Bullies and threats
- Pranks that go too far
- A clubhouse fire
- A race with crashes
What may feel big
No-girls club rules; picnic sabotage; the clubhouse catching fire; Darla dumping Alfalfa; Butch and Woim threatening a beating; a big dog jumping Alfalfa; thunder and a dream-fall off a cliff; the Blur stolen; go-karts through a car park.
4-6. Four is below this scale. Five and six need a grown-up for the fire, the bullies, the dog, and the slapstick crashes. The tone is comic; the pictures still include a building on fire and kids being chased.
7-9. Seven is still guidance. Eight and nine usually enjoy it with a skip list for fire and the bully chase. The 'girls are gross' club may need a line from you, not a laugh-along.
10-12. Easy physically. They may find it babyish and still clock the exclusion and the bullying as mean, not cute. A short talk after is more useful than treating it as harmless nostalgia.
