Vivo is a gold kinkajou who plays music in a Havana plaza with Andres, an old musician. Andres dies in his sleep holding a love song for Marta, a singer about to retire in Miami. Vivo hides in a suitcase. Gabi, ten, Andres's grand-niece, finds him and they try to get the song to the concert.
